After the second battle of the Dim Sum Civil War, Yimster led a group of us to the Asian Plaza on Story Road for banh mi at Saigon's Bakery.
I bought three banh mi (they are $1.50 each, buy 2, get one free!). For a dollar a sandwich they are definitely a bargain -- tasty and fresh. But they really don't hold a candle to Saigon Sandwich. The bread wasn't as crusty, the flavors weren't as complex, and the fillings were skimpier, which meant they didn't burst with flavor in the mouth the way a Saigon Sandwich does.
This round goes to the north!
The honeydew tapioca pearl drink was very good, though (pearl drinks are also buy 2, get one free -- it's kind of funny that one pearl drink is almost as much as three sandwiches!).
