North Shore Lobster Source

My wife and I were driving up to Gloucester for a day of beaching and (what else) fishing and were going to grab some lunch at one of the Essex lobster shacks...

Instead of taking the usual exit 14 to Rt. 133 and then heading towards Essex, I noticed that exit 15 seemed like a pretty good route.

After about a mile on Southern Ave. I saw a hand written sign on the right that said Bait, Crabs, Large Lobsters $4.50 lb.

I thought WOW that's cheap for large lobsters which usually means bigger then 1.5 lbs, or sometimes bigger then 2 lbs. These are usually $8.00-10.00 a lb in Boston.

We did not have time to stop as we were kind of late. But I bet it is a local lobsterman trying to sell his large ones, (Woodman's, Farnham's, etc. mostly like 1.25 lb. chicken lobsters).

In any case, I assure you that next time I am anywhere within 10 miles of the place I am going to stop in and check it out.
