North Shore jaunt - Bob Lobster and White River Ice Cream

Science Chick | Apr 14, 2008 12:02 PM

Headed up to Plum Island for a nice walk yesterday and we stopped at Bob Lobster. This place never ceases to please us....I had the clam roll and a cup of their wonderful clam chowder. The clams had med. sized bellies and were fried to perfection. The chowder was chunky with lots of clams and potatoes....not *too* thick but thick enough to roll around in my mouth a bit! Coleslaw is always a dealbreaker with me, and theirs is first rate. Fresh and lightly dressed, with a hint of sweetness. The BF had his usual fish and chips. We really like places that cut the fish into ~3-4" pieces. The battering sticks so much better. The fish was impeccably fresh and completely non-greasy. Fries the usual frozen ones, but at least cooked nice and crispy.

We stopped at White Farms Ice Cream in Ipswich on the way home...they opened for the season on Saturday. Never been before. Had the butter pecan which was fabulous. Chocolate really didn't make it for us, though. No depth of chocolate flavor.

All in all, a nice return to beach food!
