Australia doesn't get a lot of mention here other than Sidney, but let me try: can anyone recommend any good places in North Queensland, specifically Cairns, Port Douglas, or the Atherton Tablelands? I am heading to Oz next week: most of our time with be on a dive boat in the Coral Sea, so it would be nice to get in a few good land-based meals. Have been to the area before, and remember pretty basic food. Has it changed for the better? All price ranges, food types welcome, though we will be celebrating an anniversary while we are there, so thoughts for an upscale, celebratory meal would be appreciated.
Also, we will have access to a full kitchen for part of our land stay, so suggestions for markets or good places to buy local seafood or produce would also be appreciated, particularly in the Tablelands and Cairns.
Thanks, and I will report back!
