North Last Night - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

I have become a huge fan of North lately, but I have to say we were greatly disappointed last night. Went with friends and here is the scoop. The good: the service was excellent - my husband has a dairy allergy and they already had that in the system when we got there so he was well accommodated. Appetizers - the gazapacho was wonderful as was the heirloom tomato salad. The dessert - how can you go wrong with a warm chocolate chip cookie? The mediocre to bad: My husband had the scallops with egglplant puree - it was ok. Other gentleman had the swordfish - just ok. The other woman in our group had the porchetta that I had been raving about - DRY as a bone. I had the duck - I was so happy it was served on the bone. Unfortunatly it had NO flavor. It was served with roasted peaches - did not have any taste and roasted onions that were drowning in the oversauced plate. The sauce was a mushroom sauce but it almost tasted like watered down canned sauce. It was extremely disappointing. And here is the truly ugly - last night was very warm and quite humid. I think the place has AC but they keep the doors open - lovely on a cool night but it was so incredibly hot in there. For $200/couple, this is quite unacceptable.
We will probably go to North again - I'm thinking maybe the chef was not there - still to me not an excuse for a restaurant of that caliber, but we will wait till it's cooler out!!!!!
