North Beach: Brioche Bakery notes, new Mexical grill

Brioche Bakery's "morning bun" still doesn't do mornings, apparently; at 7:30 this morning there was no sign of impending commmerce inside. I did wander in yesterday (Sunday) noon-ish, "because it was there." I picked up three plain croissants, a small brioche, and a "garlic toast" and the nice lady behind the corner comped me a panini roll. I'm no croissant maven, but my croissant may have been the best I've eaten, the brioche was just boringly brioche-y, and the garlic toast is likely to draw me back there.

I also noted that the vacant store at the corner of Broadway and Columbus which formerly housed Taiwan Restaurant and later a Gyros joint was sporting a banner which said that "La Parilla Grill, from the people who brought you El Pollo Supremo" is coming soon.
