Norfolk County Eats?

CygnusX1 | Apr 2, 202106:13 AM

Anyone here also on the Boston area Facebook group "Norfolk County Eats"? I REALLY want to like this group, but find it to be like a car wreck that I can't turn my eyes away from. Basically, Norfolk County-centric, members post comments and photos on their restaurant meals and home cooked meals. Wondering what others think?
I think the main problem is trying to be all things to all people. The users range from some serious chefs to people that are basically heating pre-prepared foods and dumping it on a plate. It doesn't help that the moderators comment on literally every single post offering affirmation on how good the food looks. As the saying goes, if you compliment everyone, you aren't complimenting anyone. Aside from that, there is just a wealth of bad information, horrendous spelling, and bad grammar. It would be easier to overlook if a lot of the issues weren't from the moderators themselves. For example, a recent restaurant review cited "Pork Wings", described as ribs, yet are clearly pork shanks.
It's not all bad. I've seen some restaurants that I wasn't aware of, that look good and I plan on visiting. Pizza and Chinese food are topics often covered but poorly represented. I really don't see the appeal of some of the places people recommend. Some restaurants are repeatedly hyped by the site owner, which leads me to believe there may be some Phantom Gourmet style shilling going on too.
Anyway, the group grew very quickly. I'm hoping they are able to get some sort of focus and improve it, there is great potential.
