Just had a late dinner at CLG (Chili Lemon Garlic) on 24th St @ South Van Ness. I ordered #37, the Thai Boat Noodle Soup - described on the menu as "Rice noodles and special combo of sliced rare beef, beef stew, beef balls in spicy soup"
The broth was dark and had a nice beef flavor, though this was somewhat overpowered by the flakes of fried garlic that were generously sprinkled over the soup. I really love fried garlic in soup though, so this wasn't a problem for me. The meat balls were good, also very beefy. Rare steak was definitely not rare, but good nonetheless, and thin rice noodles were normal. Garnishes were fried garlic (as I mentioned), bean sprouts and a few twigs of cilantro.
The soup cost $6.95, so the total bill was $7.55. They deliver, they're open till 11 PM every day (!) and they were really friendly. Also, the menu looks pretty good and interesting, with some non-typical items. They also claim to be able to make any dish vegetarian using fake meat.
I'm interested in trying another soup, Yen Ta Foh, which is described as "Flat rice noodles w/ shrimp, fish balls, squid, imitation crab and fish cake in a red bean curd soup"
I've passed by this place tons of time but had never gone inside. I think I'll start going inside more often.
