went to the noodle alcove yesterday...

hungry for soup | Sep 2, 2005 09:26 AM

had a late lunch. the place was empty. i ordered the roast pork noodle soup with hand drawn noodles. the waitress told me it'd be a 15-20 minute wait. i was in no hurry. i noticed the chef wasn't in the front window and figured he was taking his lunch break. a short while later he returned and started to prepare the noodles. within minutes i had my soup.

it was delicious. light tastey broth accented by thin slighty marinated cuts of roast pork. soft wet noodles cut in irregular shapes swiming around scallions and a vegetable i couldn't identify. it looked like lettuce but i think it might have been nappa. anybody know what it was?

i scraped the bowl clean and ate every last scard of noodle. it was filling tasty and cheap. what a meal. i will definately go back again to try the other soup and the knife cut noodles. i sesarched the menu for xiao long bao but couldn't find it. oh well. i was more than satisfied with the soup.

the only thing i found odd was that they didn't have take-out menus. i asked the waitress and she said, "sorry we don't have take-out menus." do they never have them or were they just out? i should have asked her to elaborate
