My wife and I avoid alchohol for a number of reasons, but we still go to restaurants (of course!)
We have now read enough articles to know that ordering wine is part of the restaurant experience of the majority of restaurant consumers.
We are wondering if the traditional 18% tip applies to non drinkers. What is the right thing to do?
a.) Tip as if we each had ordered a glass of wine along with the meal.
b.) Order some kind of non-alchoholic beverage that's as pricey as wine, even if it's terrible.
c.) Don't bother, just order what you want and tip as we've been doing.
d.) None of the above, and by the way (b.) is really stupid... and you tried it didn't you? Stupid gits.
The reason we ask is that every once in a while we run into a waitperson who will give us some bad service (complete with frown and tutting) when we pass on drinks.
