Restaurants & Bars 7

Nombe takes a bow

BernalKC | Nov 23, 2009 08:25 AM

Nombe, a Japanese Izakaya style bar / restaurant, opened this weekend. They've transformed a former Mexican restaurant into a stylish, lively hang out. The food menu is varied and quite affordable. I'd also expect it to change as they work out the kinks and figure out which plates work and which ones miss the mark. It is an interesting addition to the neighborhood, and with a little work could add a tasty late night dining option to the Mission's night life landscape.

My wife and another couple went on Saturday night to check it out. At this point they do not have their alcohol permits, so they are BYOB. There were plenty of other signs that they are trying to refine the menu and their service, so its too early to give a full assessment of the place. I'll post my comments below and open this thread to collect other first impressions.
