Wife and I have been wanting to get here for quite some time and finally did so late this afternoon. Nomad has garnered lots of hype from many people and publications, we came away believers.
Very simple concept, salads, pizza and soft drinks. You come here for the pizza and salad and leave satisfied with a smile.
We split a blue cheese salad, Blue Cheese, Caramelized Pecans, Organic Greens, Organic Cherry Tomatoes, Organic Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Fresh Organic Garlic, Sea Salt, Black Pepper.
Lightly dressed but very flavorful and enough for two people.
We decided on two pizzas to share. Spicy Sausage was San Marzano Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Aged Parmesan, Simply Grazin’ Sausage, Organic Caramelized Onions, Fresh Organic Basil, Organic Olive Oil, Sea Salt.
Shiitake Mushroom consisted of Local Shiitake Mushrooms, Organic Caramelized Onions, Cherry Grove Toma Cheese, Imported Mozzarella di Bufala, Fresh Organic Garlic, Organic Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Black Pepper. Both pies were great, nice char, crispy crust but still had a "chew" to it. All the toppings and condiments were top notch.
Nomad enjoys cult status, you need to get there when they open (which we did) or 45 minutes before they close. Anywhere in between is impossible. Nomad is also BYO, which for us is a bonus.
A great day of pizza would be a "tomato pie throwdown" between Delorenzo's and Papa's followed by an equally interesting "specialty pie throwdown" between Nomad and Osteria Procaccini.
Here is some information on Nomad. Nomad will soon be opening a place in Philly.
