Was in town for a wedding this weekend with my wife. Lived in NO for 3 years while a law student and love to return. Ate at the following places with the same overall positive vibes that i had 13 years ago
Verti Mart - still the best non seafood po'boy
Irene's Cuisine - Delicious soft shell crab over pasta. This place is good.
jaques'Imos(sic) wasnt there when i lived in no but I cant believe that there wasnt another rest approximating this place. Tremendous whole red snapped stuffed with crab meat, great oyster apps and overall fun place to go.
Commanders for brunch, still the best. EJ Orsi secondlining in his wheelchair on a sunday morning, priceless
NOLA - suprisingly did not appear to slip even though I have heard and read that all of emeril's places were living on past glory. Tasting menu was a bargain at 50 bucks and the double cut pork chop is just as good as it was in '91 when i first ate it on Julia street.
Overall we love to return and eat everything in sight. Missed cheese fries at F & M, Frankie & Johnnys, Buffas and my favorite omellette at Camelia Grill. There is always next time. Thank god new orleans doesnt change
