Will basically have 4 (non-weekend) days in NOLA, so trying to make the tough decisions based partly on research here at Chowhound. Care to critique my choices, telling me what's "off" or missing? A few questions within my post, too.
Herbsaint or Peche (leaning toward Peche for more fish-eating)
Might leave the 4th dinner, arrival night, open to see how we’re feeling after flying. Sylvain is on my list, but seems noisy and a place that could be elsewhere in the country (not NOLA enough?). I hear good things about Coop’s Place as a decent place to go. I’m also thinking about Deanie’s, but hearing that the Bucktown location is a better bet?
Galatoire’s for Friday lunch (Tempted to return to August, which I loved, but feel like I should do one “classic” experience?)
Willie Mae’s or Dooky Chase (Thoughts? Neither? Not sure it’s worth a chase for fried chicken, for example.)
Casamento’s (Worth going?)
I’ve got po’boy places like Parkway, Guy’s, Domilise’s, and Liuzza’s (been to that one and enjoyed it) on my list. Central Grocery for muffaletta, but might grab those for the flight home. Can maybe consider Deanie’s or Coop’s Place for lunch. Part of this will depend on what we’re doing and where we’ll be during the daytimes. (Or, what we do will depend on where we want to eat!)
Café du Monde, Mr. B’s for afternoon BBQ shrimp only, happy hour at Luke for oysters, Brocato’s for ice if open in January.
Always happy to wander for food, so location is not typically an issue. Alcohol is not an issue for restaurant selection. Light drinkers. But adventurous, omnivorous eaters.
