Since I'll be leaving this fine city soon, like many others I'm going around to all of my favorite spots to have my favorite meals one last time. I decided to head to Noho Star for lunch today to have one of their great burgers.
Much to my dismay, the menu listed the burger as now being served on Rye bread. Now Rye is not exactly my favorite bread so I asked our waiter if I could have my burger on a kaiser. He politely replied NO, if we had a kaiser we'd give it to you, but we don't. Fine, Rye it is. Toasted on both sides, ooh. I'm all for alternate bread for a burger (broome st. bar is another fave) but I wasn't prepared for this. Ordering something else wasn't an option as I needed a nice greasy burger post Cinco De Mayo.
The burger is still very good (juicy, quality beef) with the Rye bread (with the crust cut off, no less) but I can no longer recommend it. Rye bread with no crust equals no room for toppings on your burger.
