Noe -- No good

Snoopy | Sep 27, 2006 08:19 PM

So, went to Noe for dinner last night with two friends for one friend's bday dinner. Other friend had suggested Noe and despite my other (and I believe far superior) suggestions, the birthday girl choose Noe.

Before the appetizers came out, we were each served a tiny goat cheese tart and a glass of cucumber ginger something or other. The tart could have been from Costco (actually, not that good) and the drink was just weird. Birthday girl didn't finish the drink.I had the salmon and potato ravioli appetizer. Friends had the crab roll and the blue fin tuna appetizers. I am allergic to shellfish, so couldn't try the crab roll. The blue fin was fine. Friends tried mine and thought it was the best of the three.

For dinner I had the New York. It was smothered in a heavy sauce such that I had to scrape it off to even taste the meat. The meat itself (a $42 steak) was quite chewy. When I asked for a steak knife they told me that they really didn't have steak knives and brought out some other knife that was marginally sharper than a table knife. Overall, very disappointing piece of meat.

One friend had the lobster and another had the flounder with lobster sauce. I couldn't try either due to allergy. Friend with the flounder said hers was okay, she ate about 3/4 of it, but tried other friend's lobster dish and said it wasn't good, that the shrimp was stringy. Friend who had the lobster didn't say much about her dish, though both said my steak was the best of the three entrees.

Ordered desserts and a cheese plate. None were memorable. Had to ask someone to tell us what the cheeses were.

Dinner, without wine came to about $300. With wine we were over $400. One of the more mediocre experiences I've had in quite a while. If you want to see the specifics of any one dish, here's the link to their website
