Say No to Nobu

Brian Crist | Aug 18, 2003 10:33 AM

Was Nobu ever truly good? I have been to Nobu several times, mainly on summer associate lunches. (I am an attorney and we get to take summer interns out to fancy lunches.) I have yet to be impressed by Nobu. I have had a variety of dishes there as well as basic sushi and shashimi, including the omakase. I also find the decor of Nobu to be not particularly attractive or well done. The space to me looks almost like what I would expect of a sushi joint in some small town. Don't get me wrong. The food at Nobu is actually okay and sometimes a little better than okay. But considering the fact that it usually costs anywhere from 120 to 220 dollars for 2 people to have lunch there, I think it really should be better than okay. Has anyone had a truly extraordinary meal at Nobu over the last couple of years? If so, I would love to hear what you have to say!
