Noble Chef Reincarnation

This is something of a “rhetorical” post in the sense that I don’t anticipate many (if any) comments.

I was in the mood for some simple Chinese dish, hadn’t been to Noble Chef in quite a while, and just didn’t feel like going over to Convoy.

The place was mentioned in the not-too-distant past on our board:

The front looked updated, but it was when I walked in that I was blown away. Here we had a virtual transplant from North Park sitting in the middle of a mundane little strip mall. The place may have changed hands, IDK; if not, it’s certainly changed format.

The interior is very nice, in the same “right-on” way that Ototo Sushi Co. in the same area is, but simpler.

The new menu is fairly extensive. I wanted something simple and ordered kung pao chicken, extra spicy. It was bland as could be, and the chilies hadn’t been dry roasted and blackened. A bit of soy sauce helped.

Yeah, I know. Whadaya want from kung pao chicken? I was checking the water. I’ll go back for something more complex.

Brisk yet warm and friendly service from semi-formally dressed servers.

A very interesting metamorphosis. I was surprised.

Noble Chef,
Ototo Sushi Co.
