Three nights: Check my progress

markdsgraham | May 13, 201507:48 AM

Okay everyone, with the help of your posts and the Eater lists I have been doing some very last minute planning for a long weekend (late Friday to mid-afternoon Monday) in your great city starting in two days.

Key details: Staying in the FQ, looking for both high and low end options, willing to move around on transit or in cabs but walking is a bonus, coming from Toronto Canada, it's only my second time and my wife's first time, we are celebrating her 30th birthday, and we want to hit places that might be uniquely New Orleans (not necessarily "classic" or stereotypical, although that is okay). We will happily do nothing but eat and listen to music.

The confounding factor is that my wife is a vegetarian (yes cheese and eggs, no fish and meat). She is not picky and would prefer to eat at a great restaurant that can accommodate her with one or two delicious options than settle for a less great vegetarian restaurant.

So here is what I have come up with and a few questions. I'm grateful for any feedback!

Friday dinner: Coops (need something open past midnight and close to our hotel in the FQ).

Saturday breakfast: Cafe Du Monde

Saturday early lunch: Central Grocery (I understand they do a veg muff)

Saturday afternoon grazing: Bacchanal

Saturday late-ish dinner: I wanted to get a reservation at August but looks like I am too late. Do they do bar seating, and would they do the (meat and veg) degustation at the bar? If not, any thoughts on another "fine dining" place that would be good to a vegetarian?

Sunday brunch: La Petite Grocery

Sunday dinner: Got a reservation at Luke. If August works out, I was thinking to cancel that and go with either Three Muses or Green Goddess - any thoughts? Obviously GG is more food focused but does the food at Three Muses hold its own?

Monday breakfast: Might have to roll with a frozen Irish coffee from Erin Rose and a Killer po' boy. Otherwise, Satsuma.

Monday lunch: Commander's Palace

Bar stops: Arnaud's, Avenue Pub, Roosevelt Hotel Sazerac Bar.

If there are any improvements that jump to mind or any other feedback, let me know. I'll update as I keep digging and fill you in after the trip. Thanks everyone!
