One Night In New York - Restaurant Tips

knackers | Feb 4, 201102:18 PM

My GF and I will be visiting NYC from DC soon for a Sat, and are after some tips for dinner. She is pescetarian, I eat anything (but I'll admit I tend to run a bit cheap-assed-but-food-snobby). We are staying a few blocks from MoMA - restaurant doesn't need to be right next door, just a reasonably uncomplicated trek would be preferred. Budget is around $50 each for dinner (2 courses each, food & wine, excl t & t - maybe a little higher if it's worth it). Must take bookings else I will cop a cold shoulder all evening! I'm after something (food + vibe) that I won't get anywhere else, like: locally sourced, simple but awesome food and a great wine list; or, kickass regional, more-Italian-than-Italy; or, regional Japanese that is not just sushi & teriyaki; or, something else entirely...and thanks in advance.
