uh oh. time to have dinner at 4pm or dine elsewhere for a couple weeks. they want to make it work and i believe that they will but only after the frazzle has a chance to dissipate. last night they had run out of oysters and clams by 8:45, had ended the outdoor seating for the night and were woefully out of step up with the crowds. their heart is there, the staff was clearly working so hard - but in a keystone cop kind of way. so many people tried to pay me for their meal - i could have rented a house in maine for the take and eaten at a beach skack there instead. those who scored a table had an even lesser chance of scoring a server. it wasn't a battle scene and i must say - the lobster seekers were fairly patient and calm but the staff (many of whom had been imported from the julep owners uptown bar) looked like they wanted to sit down and have a good cry. gone are the lazy, tasty days of last week. in time the balance will return but be forewarned for now.
