Last night at Globe

PlonkMan | Mar 22, 2004 02:01 PM

Ann had a friend from out of town staying in Santa Monica last night and we thought we'd try something local and new (to us). So Globe was it.

Good flattish salted bread to begin with. (Came in little square chunks - looked like cornbread at first. I'm not sure what the proper term is for this kind of bread.) I had a salad of organic greens, feta, and radishes. Light on the dressing, nicely seasoned. Very good. Followed by spaghetti Bolognese. (This has shown up on a couple of menus lately, and I've pounced. Fond childhood memories, I think.) A nicely done plate of pasta. Ann and Alice both had the half roasted chicken and both thought it was excellent. We'll certainly go back.

CAVEAT EMPTOR: we'll go back, but with someone else paying. The food was reasonably priced, but the wine list has very limited selections under $40 (I think only three reds under $40 and one red under $30.) Even if I weren't PlonkMan I'd be a little distressed.
