Hi Hounds, here is the report on Divino.
We arrived at 7:30 for our reservation, we were seated immediately by Goran the host/owner, he was nice but reserved, we saw him hugging and kissing the locals, I thought he should have been more friendly to the out of towners, (us who drove from Palos Verdes) a la Michael Franks at Chez Melange.The place is small and not much decoration, but it feels homey and comfortable,even though the tables are so close, Connie was almost touching her neighbors elbow. Harry told me we were not going to be able to talk, as the write up says it is very noisey, we left at 9:30 and Harry said, I am suprised, it wasn't as noisey as I expected. However we had a nice table, and good but not great waiter. The food was the keynote here, they gave us an amuse of thin sliced rolled eggplant with cheese center and lovely red sauce, next came the bread which was like a combo of pita bread and tortilla baked with some kind of cheese on it and very crispy, I liked it Connie and Barbara didn't. I had a wonderful Veal Chop with porcini's, an appetizer of Prosciutto and Burrata, good, but the burrata was not the best I have tasted,that was at La Bucca. Connie had a risotto with mixed mushrooms, which was a little bland, she hated it, I liked it. Harry had a seafood salad appetizer, which he pronounced the best he ever had, and Barbara had the Parparadelli with shredded Osso Bucco, she licked the plate. An Apple tart finished the meal with a flare, but it would have been better with vanilla ice cream, I guess they don't have space so they don't offer any ice cream. The veal chop was $34 as opposed to La Botte at $40, and twice as good. All in all Harry, Barbara and I gave it an 8, and Connie gave it a 7. $15 corkage,reasonable for that part of town.
