So the "old man" casually brings up last night -- should we start thinking about V-night dinner? Since I'm the foodie in the relationship, he defers to moi (smart man) so we started calling around last night and yup, a number of restaurants were already full.
Here's a recap. Note, we're keeping it to the east side/pas since V-day is during a work-night.
Parkway Grill -- full
The Raymond -- full, but they're deciding today if opening patio. If so, then there will be more openings. $100 pp (we've never been, wondering if this scales more older...)
Angelini Osteria -- mostly full. Has kitchen/chef & outside tables avail. My personal fav but not exactly the most romantic place, going here for my bday in March so passed.
Lucques -- full.
Cafe Bizou in Pasadena -- avail (we had a great & economical V-night dinner here years ago, picked this as a back-up).
We ended up at Ciudad -- never been. They're having live music that night so we're thrilled about that. It's $75 pp for a four course dinner. The hostess started telling me the menu but I stopped her. It sounded really good & wanted to be surprised. They still have many openings & were very nice/helpful. Our close friends recently went, said they had a terrific dinner & the music was great (their personal friend is a respected session musician and was performing there).
