I went to Nicky D's right when it opened about a year ago and found it very disappointing. We got lazy on Sunday and tried it again, and I must say it was very good indeed! We had 3 large pies -
1. Pesto/Basil/Tomato - very fresh and vibrant pesto
2. Vegetarian - good overall, though artichoke hearts made it a bit soggy.
3. Pepperoni & Meatball - the best of the bunch. The pepp. has a small circumference and is a bit spicy. The meatballs are amazing & very garlicky.
The crust on all was on the thin side and nicely chewy. Tomato sauce is tangy and a bit sweet. They have a massive wood oven that gives the pies a nice charred crust and a smoky flavor.
The place is run by a sweet older couple and I have a feeling that they aren't doing super well. Maybe a lot of people got put off early on. Give them a shot if you are in the neighborhood - they deliver!
