Nice time at Nice Time Deli in Irvine

My throat was a little scratchy yesterday, so I convinced my friends to accompany me to Nice Time Deli in Irvine. Soup was the goal. Hot soup to soothe my sore gullet. A nice steaming bowl of Pork Chop Taiwanese Noodle Soup ($4.95) to be exact. Hot porky broth, studded with jewels of ground pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and browned shallots. Swimming in it, the noodles. Comfort food on a cold cloudy night. I slurped happily, steam clouding my glasses. Between slurps, I rip off a piece of crispy Fried Pork Chop which comes on the side. A little dab of chili sauce...I'm in heaven.

Friends order the same as me, as well as a side of Simmered Egg ($.50), which we share. Just one hard boiled egg, cooked in soy, quartered and served with a little sesame oil, a sweet soy sauce, and diced green onion.
