I want to take my mom out to a nice lobster dinner. She's an older Asian lady who does not go out for dinner often, let alone SF, so I want to take her somewhere nice but not pretentious. A place that says "Your daughter loves you and wants to treat you to a delicious meal, because she wants you feel special and taken care of." (I don't know how to put it!) I think she has her mind set on lobster, but we both like seafood in general.
Any recommendations on restaurants that serve a great whole lobster and have a nice ambiance without feeling too stuffy?
I took her to McCormick & Kuleto's for Xmas eve and she loved their lobster. I know, don't scoff at me for taking her there, the lobster was actually really good, but I think this is the type of place that she would consider "nice". The food matters most, but the interior matters as well. Although they don't have lobster, I thought about Postrio and Jardinere, because it kind of has that old school "I'm fancy" feeling the moment you walk in the door. Still, I'd really love to get her a lobster!
Your help is appreciated!
