A friend of mine who is visiting New York will give a lecture at Fordham tomorrow night, and afterwards (around 9.30 PM) we would like to go out and eat something and/or have a drink.
I live in Harlem; he stays in a downtown Manhattan hotel, and we both usually explore restaurants in Manhattan or Brooklyn neighborhoods -- but it would be fun to do something in The Bronx for once, instead of heading downtown.
Do you have any suggestions? Where do people in Bronx take their out-of-town guests? Is there any not-to-be-missed place? Some home-cooking hole in the wall with a cult-following? Some Vietnamese restaurant with banh mi to die for? Some semi-glamourous lounge with fun people-watching? Any old school Italian diner with really good food? A restaurant with faboulous interiors? A mysterious dive bar?
We're open to pretty much anything that makes it's worth staying in The Bronx.
We do not have a car, but could of course take a cab or car service from Fordham. Please note that this will be semi-late in the evening, so we would prefer suggestions to places that do not close early!
