A nice experience at Jardiniere

Ann Leneave | Nov 1, 200101:58 AM

We country mice went to the big City this past weekend, and had some noteworthy food. We had dinner at Jardiniere on Friday night and it was superb! Nothing astoundingly architectural, thank goodness, just perfectly prepared halibut on an elegant sauce with tiny slivers of sweet roasted root vegetables and some carefully sauteed greens, a perfectly dressed salad, a delicious tuna tartare to start, even the coffee was perfect. Of course, the fabulous "97 Stony Hill Chardonnay didn't fail to enhance all that perfection. No wonder the restaurant was packed.

Lunch at the Slanted Door was very good too. I loved their spring rolls. I stopped in the Arizmendi (is that what it is called?) Bakery for a half-baked pizza to take home and it was yummy too. I sure wish some Cheeseboard spinoffs would open one up here.
