We just had Sat nite dinner at Pumpkin (1700 block of South)it was a very nice nite. We had a 6:30 res. (only time available) and were seated promptly when we arrived at 6;25. It's a tight, small storefront space and we asked for a nicer/more alone table (the hostess was headed to the one that had extremely close next table neighbors) and our request was honored. I had braised short ribs (all stringy meat, no bone) on really nice vegetables of onions, couscous and cooked greens. It was delish. I like to order something I don't cook at home.H had whole Dorade fish and we shared a pot decreme chocolate dessert. It's bring your own and EVERY table had wine --the only slight objection might be the limited menu. H is vegetarian and there was only 1 fish choice/ no complete veg/vegan(only 5 total choices for entree) and the only veg app. looked not great(beets and greens for $8)But our waitress was the perfect mix of nice service and chatting (not joining our conversation, no hovering, just refilling water and bread at the right times) and the owner, Hillary, came over to chat, see how we liked our meal. She also followed us out the front door, wishing us good night. We used to live on the same block as the restaurant so we had a nice chat. Our bill for 2 entrees, 1 dessert was $50.(and we parked for free, on the street, right outside) Very nice, we would definately go back.
