Friday is the eve of the lunar new year.
Any special dinner plans? Dine out? Cook at home? Special/traditional dishes?
I'm counting on Mrs. Soup (with help and advice from Grandma Soup) to come up with her usual sumptious feast for the occasion. They'll probably do in a "huang mao" chicken, maybe a Dungeness crab or two, and prepare a whole host of Shanghainese dishes. The only de rigeur bow to tradition in our household is "danjiao" in soup with bean thread vermicelli.
