My husband and I are headed to Newport for a a couple of days before July 4th weekend (arriving Wednesday, leaving Friday). I'm hoping we miss the worst of the crowds. I'm reading here and Yelp and learning that Newport can be on the dressy side.

For drinks on the lawn at Castle Hill, are jeans, polo shirt and sneakers ok for my husband? Or does he really need shoes and/or khakis? I'm planning on a casual maxi dress and sandals, so I think that should be fine.

Names of restaurants that get mentioned a lot are Black Pearl, White Horse Tavern and Spiced Pear. They all sound good, but all seem to be dressy. Maybe we could head to one of those after Castle Hill. I'm guessing sneakers are no good at all of those except maybe the tavern/bar side at White Horse? Is the bar side actual tables and just a more casual dining room or are we talking about eating at the bar?

Any recommendations for a casual (jeans and sneakers - I promise that neither one of us is showing up in cut offs, flip flops, a tank top or a baseball hat) but really good seafood place for dinner?
