Nepal Benefit at Urban Curry (and Urban Curry's Nepali Connection)

soupçon | May 10, 201508:51 AM

According to KTVU news, Urban Curry in North Beach will be holding a benefit for Nepal on Friday, May 15 at 6:00 PM.

Even though it's in my 'hood (I haven't spent much time on that block since Mike's Pool Hall was on the same site), I didn't realize it had a Nepal connection until now. That apparently originated when Purna Sherpa and Bharat Baral took over two years ago. UC's website is now emblazoned with "A Modern Taste of India & Nepal" and the menu includes a "Nepal Specialties" section, which lists Goat Curry, Lamb Choila, Chicken MoMo, Chicken Chili and Paneer Chili.

I'll try to come back with some details on the benefit.
