Hi Fellow Chowhounds,
Greetings from Maryland.
We just received a call from my mother-in-law who is turning 80. Although she lives in San Diego, a small family gathering to celebrate her birthday seems to be mushrooming into something more than the original 6 or 7 people contemplated. The guest list is now about 15 and the venue is Palm Springs or Rancho Mirage or some other nearby location.
I am hoping to get some advice. We are looking for a good restaurant with a broad menu (some of the attendees are vegetarians, some are not)that might have either a private room or an alcove to hold an early dinner on Saturday, February 8th. We were thinking of something in the late afternoon or early evening (6 pm). A buffet would make things easy, but is not a requirement. People are driving in from LA and San Diego. Some others live in Rancho Mirage.
It's rather difficult to get information on a specific place from 3,000 miles away, so I am hoping you fellow chowhounds can lend a hand.
