We just got engaged!!!
I am a reform secular Jew and my future hubby comes from a Modern Orthodox family. His 3 siblings are kosher and his parents are kosher. Mikey, my boo, is not kosher but we were told that the wedding MUST be kosher.
I thought we could compromise and have a dairy vegetarian wedding (since they eat at none kosher restaurants) but that was not good enough.
I am mostly a pescatarian (some poultry once in a while) so it will definitely be a dairy kosher wedding. We would easily forego chicken just to have a rich buttercream cake and ice cream at our wedding.
That being said kosher food tends to be more expensive (we're thinking of asking his parents to pay for food) and not all that good. Which is why I have come to you, my fellow foodies.
Does anyone know of the best kosher caterer/private chef in the NYC metro area? We don't really want a fancy sit down dinner. My initial dream was to bring in a wood burning oven to make pizza (Roberta's), get an ice cream truck (Big Gay or Van Lewen) and someone making cotton candy and salt water taffy but alas, these dreams were crushed.
We want fun, whimsical and carefree food that is verging on modern comfort food. Also, as of now price is not being factored in but we can narrow it down later. We'd rather splurge on better food and cut back on flowers etc.
