I return to Paris on Sept. 3 and will stay for a month, alone as usual. So if any chowies are going to be there and have some interest in sharing a meal or a drink with a semi-grumpy old man, let me know. I check my e-mail every day. And I know a little about Paris, having spent a lot of time there.
I'll be in an apartment in the tenth, not far from the wonderful Marche St Quentin on boulevard Magenta, and near enough to the Gares du Nord and de l'Est. I haven't the exact address yet, nor the phone number, but I'll put it on this board before I leave.
By the way, I don't eat in places with stars nor do I drink on the Champs Elysees, except standing at the bar. Not reverse snobbery, just penury.
In October, I intend to drive around Provence for a while and then spend a couple or three weeks in Corsica. BTW, generous advisors, I'm always on the look-out for cheap digs and good eats.
In addition, I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who'd like to get my Paris Letter, a generally quirky and egocentric e-mail picture of Paris as I happen to see it three or four times a week. I'm told that it's occasionally funny and generally rather densely detailed. But I can't promise anything memorable. It's a report addressed to my friends, to which small circle you are welcome.
