I grew up in Cleveland Park and will be returning with my two sons (11 & 15) to visit my dad next week. Please help with a restaurant recommendation or two. We'll be staying in Cleveland Park and spending lots of time at various Smithsonian museums.
We live in Northern California, and will be looking for food other than Mexican or Asian. I'm open to anything short of organ meat or vegan fare. Spanish food is a favorite. Wine is important, and a good selection by the glass makes a restaurant shine a bit brighter. My kids are adventurous for their age. The younger one is currently on a mussels kick. My dad, OTOH, is not fond of strange or spicy things. Sweetbreads are just fine, however. Fish is a favorite of his. Price is less important than value. I'll gladly pay top dollar for a knockout meal.
A scan of the recent posts on this board makes Corduroy and Black Salt seem like top picks. Others that stood out include Jaleo, Montmartre, and Belga Cafe. Lavandou will probably get a visit.
What else can you recommend? Crabs aren't in season, are they? Where are the best moules frites found? Thanks in advance for your help.
