Back in the day (when I was single), I went up to Napa & Sonoma regularly to wine-taste, bicycle, hike, camp, spa, eat, etc.
Alas, that was a long time ago and the effort involved in crowbaring my husband away from his two girlfriends, the computer & bed, results in few out of town trips.
But our house is a pigsty due to our in-progress kitchen remodel and I have an all day business event in the North Bay on Friday so here's the plan -
We drive up together on Friday am. Michael finds a cafe with wireless and works. He picks me up from my meeting at 5:30. We go to dinner at Cole's. We stay at a hotel. Saturday, we go wine tasting (probably just driving up Silverado Trail?), have a picnic lunch and dinner at Martini House. We either head home or stay another night.
Since most of my time has been spent in Sonoma and Calistoga, I don't have particularly intimate knowledge of Napa. So I'd love it if y'all had recommendations for:
* reasonably priced accomodations (note kitchen remodel above which is sure to escalate),
* any favored wineries (with fab reds, including Pinot Noir?) or other places to taste wines,
* any other "must do", and
* a grocer or the like for picnicing goodies.
