For anyone who suddenly wakes up with a crazy idea to run up to Napa over the weekend this is the weekend of the world famous Wine Wuction and things will be crazier and busier than normal. Wealthy and often famous wine drinkers and collectors come from around the country for a devoted 4 days of decadence all in the name of charity.
While most auction attendees will spend time at scheduled events and meals, when an event begins or ends the traffic is unbelieveable (ie, when the silent auction at Sterling let out yesterday it was bumper to bumper on the Trail from Dunaweal Lane to Deer Park Road for over an hour). Plus, many auction attendees try to squeeze in extra meals at Valley favorites.
I know you'll all be shocked by hearing this from a Napan, but if you just have to do wine country this weekend, you might want to do Sonoma instead.*
