I'm hoping someone can help me. My grandmother who is deceased was from Puglia in the town of Corato. She used to make these cookies that my brothers and sister called "fork" cookies. We forgot to get the recipe from her before she died and my mother, who was an only child, passed away when we were children.
The cookies were hard, but not teeth-cracking like the Venetian S-shaped cookies, although they have the same flavor. She made the dough by hand, rolled out a long piece, cut it into cookie lengths and then flattened each piece with her fork. They are some combination of a sugar cookie, but not delicate in that they were great for dunking into coffee.
Is there anyone out there familiar with what I'm talking about? I was hoping to recreate it for my brothers and sisters for Christmas. Please help?
