Boy Cambridge and Somerville have a lot of good Indian restaurants. Namaskar is another. I've gone for dinner and the lunch buffet, and preferred the lunch.

The dinner was good but not great. I started with the patra (taro leaves) appetizer. This is one of my favorite Indian foods, but I was disappointed because it was cooked well past al dente and it needed some lemon. Still it was tasty. My fish vindaloo entree, on the other hand, was wonderful, with plenty of chilis. Dessert (ras malai) was average.

My experience with the lunch buffet was much better, and I preferred it to all of the Indian buffets in Cambridge and Brookline. The coconut rice was fantastic, and the yellow daal, for a change, neither bland nor overcooked. The naan was also much better than average, as was everything I tried.

Namaskar may not be worth a trip from Boston, like Tamarind Bay, but it's worth a try if you're in the area.
