Naga Naga Ramen - Pasadena

WildSwede | Jan 19, 201110:15 AM

A couple of friends and I went for lunch just before Christmas, but I am only now getting around to doing a short review on it. I had never been and have not had a lot of experience with Ramen houses. I ordered the Tom Yum Ramen based solely on the fact that I love Tom Yum and noodles, so what was not to like? The flavor was all there, delicious, in fact, but something was off. I think the noodles they used (too heavy) did not complement the soup - or maybe I am just not used to TY with noodles. However, for some reason, I do think that rice noodles would have worked nicely. Could be based on my love of Pho.
BUT, the two appetizers we ordered are what I really wanted to write about. If you go, you HAVE TO order the Sizzling Squid. When my friend ordered it I was thinking 'great' - and not in a good way. When that plate came all sizzling to the table, I was ALL over it. This was definitely the best part of the entire meal. So good! I crave it.
We also ordered the Tofu Nuggets which were almost as good. If I go back, I think that I will stick with appetizers. My friends got the Naga Naga Ramen and one of the rice dishes with beef. They had both been there several times, so they know what they like. Service was quick and efficient.
They also have a location in Alhambra.
