It's official. Nacho's, across from Crystal Springs Shopping Center is no more. A few months ago, they closed up shop on Sundays -- not surprising, other restaurants nearby aren't open Sundays either -- and then this past weekend, I drove by and happened to see the owner carting out the decorations on the walls. I wondered -- hmm, remodeling?
And then I went to pick up my dry cleaning today and the new tenants were already putting up their signs and painting their name on the doors.
Nacho's, while they didn't produce the burritos legends are made of, did create a damn fine burrito, esp. for being in a random strip mall in the Highlands. And they almost always asked you if you wanted the carnitas crunchy or soft or in the middle. (Sigh). It's always depressing when the mom and pop shops closed up, yet the Quiznos two doors down manages to stay alive.
Anyone in the 'hood know what the story is? I assume they were just struggling and had to close up...
