Mythos in San Carlos

Nice review about this new place in San Carlos. Add another good place on Laurel St, which is becoming the mid-peninsula's version of a restaurant row. I went to Mythos once and had a few small plates at the bar, so I can't offer a full review. But I did really like the space and the dishes we tried were quite good for simple, comfortable, Greek inspired dishes. The place is a little slick and straddles the line between upscale and comfortable. It's not what I expect when I think of Greek, which often comes off as a theme-first, quality-second experience to me. Mythos is doing it's own version of this cuisine really well. We liked the spreads, lamb meatballs, and avogelemono. The owner was working the bar that night and tasting several wines with his partner, so I think the wine list has probably changed since that visit. The wines we saw were the usual suspects from California, but there were some more interesting choices on the "international" portion of the list with several options from Greece. This is the latest in the "bring the city experience to the burbs" concept. If you're in the area it's worth checking out.
