Mystery pasta machine [moved from Home Cooking board]

Josquin | Jul 12, 200807:44 PM     16

Greetings, all. I just purchased a "vintage" (whatever that means) pasta maker/roller on ebay. I had never heard of the brand, and while that would deter many people, it made me want to pick it up just so I could take a look. Anyhow, the only writing I can find on it, besides "Made in Italy" is "Esccelsa." Underneath that it says, "Modello Depositato." I don't speak Italian, and have no idea what any of that means.

Here's the deal, though. The thing is beautiful. Weighs a ton, looks like it will last for a hundred years, and works beautifully. Because I had to clean it and put it through its paces, I'm sitting here right now eating fresh pasta with butter and reggiano. Bliss, I tell you.

The mystery is that I can't find a shred of info about this company, when the machine might have been made, or what may have become of the company. It even has attachment brackets on the end, so there must have been a range of cutters for it once upon a time.

Anyhow, if it was junk I wouldn't care, but it really is a fine machine. I bought it to refurb for a gift, and now I'm thinking of keeping it. I won't retire my faithful imperia, but it's darn cool.

So....is there an appliance archaeologist on the boards anywhere? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Grazie,

Jos
