A friend of mine told me he'd heard of a little Puerto Rican restaurant in south Milwaukee. He said you had to pass through a small neighborhood grocery store, where you'd find an even smaller restaurant. I pressed him for more details (i.e., location!), but he could not recall any more information. He was to return to the source of the rumor to ascertain the location and name of the joint. However, he is now in Finland on sabbatical and, alas, I am no closer to finding this restaurant. So, any Milwaukee chowhounds out there who can solve this mystery? Also, I'd like to see some recommendations for ethnic food in the Milwaukee area.
While I'm on the topic of ethnic food in Milwaukee, I must recommend Bombay Sweets for no-frills vegetarian Indian fare. The food is cheap and the furnishngs are minimalist and you have to love a place where you may select your meal by browsing the photos on the wall. Savory dessert snacks crowd the display counter. Treat yourself to lunch and return to your office with a box of treats to amuse yourself with the reactions of your coworkers to the aromatic munchies.
