Myanmar in Falls Church - WoW!

Steve | Jul 1, 200312:40 PM     6

I feel so naive ...it's as if someone shone a blinding light on something that's always half remained in darkness. (Said with requisite Southern accent).

I'm talking about going to Myanmar and being completely blown away by ordering one of their many salads - the ginger salad. It was recommended to me by Roe, and others, but I was unprepared for the explosion of flavors and textures. And for 5 bucks, you get a filling meal with a bowl of steamed rice. I was planning on ordering more at first, but I just couldn't do it. For the record, the ginger salad is like cole slaw gone berserk, with shredded cabbage, marinated ginger, tomatoes, toasted sesame seeds, peanuts, and some dried, crunchy beans. I must reevaluate my life.

Also of note: They have a dish called Palau Rice that must be ordered at least a day in advance - along with a minimum order of ten dishes. I doubt if they get a request to prepare this even once a month. Do I smell another Chow outing in the making?
