Musso & Frank Report

Dinner last night. AVOID the shrimp cocktail ($12). 12 smallish shrimp, overcooked and pretty flavorless. Tangy red cocktail sauce, though, good on the bread. The tenderloin ($33) was a very flavorful piece of beef, ordered black & bleu (charred rare) and delivered with a very nice char but too close to medium rare for my taste. Next time I'll stress to the waiter that I *mean* rare. Accompanied by a great jus, not too salty at all. I soaked it all up with my baked potato skin and requested more. It came in a medium dish with a soup spoon so of course I finished it off with the spoon after replenishing my steak. Surprisingly, when we requested to take the leftover steak home, the waiter replied that they don't do take-out. But he came through with a nice styrofoam container nevertheless.
