Mussel storage mistake: do I need to buy new?

arielleeve | Dec 24, 201609:50 AM     14

I bought a 2 pound bag of mussels yesterday. Forgot to transfer it out of the packaging when I got home. I bought them around 5 PM last night, realized at around 12:30 today. They have been stored in the fridge, in a plastic grocery bag tied with a knot up until now.

Think they are definitely all dead and not usable? I just transferred them to a colander with ice and a damp cloth, praying to the food gods I don't have to make an emergency trip to the fishmonger in the next ten minutes, as it's Christmas Eve and I was planning on making cioppino!
