Hadn't been to Muriya, 129 E 27 (689-7925) for a few years, and went there last night. It was as good as I remembered. People have mentioned that lots of Manhattan indian restaurants are now going for lightish sauces. Well, if you're in the mood for heavier ones, muriya is a good choice. Onion baji are really tasty. Forgo the aloo tikki (not a strong point. These potato cakes were dry). The mains were rich and delicious: chick vindaloo and chick jalfrezi. The bread--onion kulcha (sp?)--also good. Very good lime pickle, made with tiny limes.
This is not a place strong on decor (forget the pink lights!), and the heating, air-conditioning system is a little on the noisy side. But the food is really rather good. Service is friendly. PS: This is a non-zagatish place. It hasn't been in zagats for a few years.
